Celebrate with Cake!!

Good Monday morning to you all :0)

I'm tempting you into the new week with some birthday cake this morning, yup and this one is calorie free *wink* :0)
I'm also using the sketch from the current AEIHeartU challenge.... did you know that Avery Elle run there own challenge blog too?? It's well worth checking out the details here :0)

I've used the sentiment from the Cake and Candles stamp set.... its uniform square shape immediately made me think of a layered birthday cake so I heat embossed the whole sentiment on three different colours of cardstock before chopping them up. For the cream layer I used a red embossing powder on cream card so it would show up and also to mimic jam and cream... yum :0)
A birthday cake has to have candles and there are some lovely chunky candles in the Avery Elle stamp set called Fill the Blanks, perfect style to match the cake and easy to line up for repeatedly stamping them for a blaze of candles on the cake :0)

I assembled the cake in a 'wonky on purpose' fashion... (not unlike my cakes in real life *wink*) on top of three strips of washi tape and then added the stars and streamers from the same set along with a few dots of silver stickles for some bling!!!

Speaking of sketches, our own sketch challenges closes tonight at 10pm (GMT) so hurry if you want to play along to be in with a chance of winning a £15 voucher to spend in store.... it's also a great place for inspiration as we've had some amazing entries so far this month :0) Click on the link above or the challenge tab at the top of the page to find the gallery and inlinkz tool... we love to see your creations.

If that's not enough to wet your appetite for challenges, Paper Smooches Sparks have an Anything Goes challenge this week and here's my DT card made using the sets, Be Boppin and Simply Said
